McDonald's Is Adding A New Crispy Meal To Menus
Every now and then, McDonald's takes a break from teasing us all with social media videos seeming to hint at the return of all-day breakfast and releases some more concrete news that rocks the Golden Arches fandom. Today, such a bombshell dropped: the company is venturing back into the highly-competitive realm of fast food chicken tenders with the debut of its McCrispy Strips. As per a press release shared with Foodie, these delectable-sounding menu items feature "irresistibly craveable chicken strips made with juicy, 100% white meat and bursting with bold, new seasoning."
McDonald's current menu has a handful of chicken sandwich options, and, of course, it always boasts those crispy, beloved McNuggets. For dive-thru divas seeking a more substantial chicken entrée, however, the McCrispy Strips are likely to be welcomed with open arms. While McDonald's has offered variations on chicken tenders in the past, this particular form of chicken hasn't been seen at McDonald's in five years, as chicken strips were cut during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the brand's strategy to pare down the menu. Now, McD's is going toe-to-toe with competitors like Wingstop, Raising Cane's, and Popeyes and adding the McCrispy Strips as a new permanent menu item. And, of course, it wouldn't be McDonald's unless there was the perfect sauce to pair with your dunkable strips.
Sauce fans, this one's for you
Along with the McCrispy Strips, McDonald's is also offering a new sauce, the Creamy Chili Dip, which is meant to be sweet, savory, and tangy all at once. Like the chicken strips, the sauce is part of McDonald's first new permanent menu addition in no fewer than four years. McDonald's Nether Sauce, which was released with its promotional Minecraft meals, was extra-spicy due to its cayenne pepper content, but that was a limited-time item. Now, you can enjoy Creamy Chili Dip 24/7/365 with any menu item you'd like, including nuggets or even french fries.
You don't have to wait long to try McCrispy Strips, as they are rolling out nationwide on May 5th in boxes of either three or four strips. Some drive-thrus have them already, however, so check with your local restaurant to see if you can try them even earlier. Pricing will vary based on location, but some bloggers have reported costs of $4.99 for three strips and $5.99 for four strips, each coming with two sauces. Early reviews are good, with social media users enjoying the black pepper spice blend in the coating and the chicken's crispy texture. Perhaps even more than the strips themselves, McDonald's fans have whipped themselves into a bit of a frenzy over the hint that the permanent addition of chicken tenders could only mean one thing: the long-promised return of Snack Wraps (which have been made with chicken strips) might just be around the corner.
