Is McDonald's Twitter Hinting At The Return Of All-Day Breakfast?
To paraphrase the illustrious and sage bards of The Backstreet Boys, McDonald's needs to quit playing games with our hearts already. We already fell for one viral social media post that seemed to tease the return of all-day breakfast, and that was only four months ago. The Golden Arches stopped serving all-day breakfast back in 2020, blaming order accuracy, simplicity of operations, and other excuses that we don't particularly care about, and life just hasn't glistened with the same luster ever since.
Now, the nefarious tease that runs McDonald's X (formerly Twitter) account is at it again, having spam-posted several consecutive tweets this morning that have us breathing hard and feeling all fluttery. One word started it all: "breakfast." Followed by the cryptic message, "no one asks for all day lunch." The account's header image has also been changed to a picture of a Bacon McGriddle emblazoned with the words, "breakfast comes first." And, for the company's bio: "this is a breakfast stan account now." Just stop toying with us and tell us what we want to hear, McDonald's! We're not above begging!
Why all-day breakfast is our hearts' true desire
If you have never experienced all-day breakfast at McDonald's, you might be raising a skeptical eyebrow at the absolute chokehold that the phenomenon has on popular culture. What has fast food fans so thirsty over the concept of eating a freakin' Egg McMuffin for lunch or dinner? It's kind of hard to explain unless you have been there; a literal manifestation of IYKYK. For one thing, let's just talk about the sheer range of creative McDonald's hacks that you can accomplish when you have both the breakfast and lunch/dinner menus at your disposal: sandwiching a hash brown in between the beef patties on your Double Cheeseburger! Ordering a folded egg in your Quarter Pounder! Eating french fries with your sausage biscuit!
It should be noted that McDonald's has said absolutely nothing concrete at this point in time about all-day breakfast, and that the company's social media managers can be unhinged chaos demons. Perhaps they are just trolling us — it wouldn't be the first time. We're keeping hope alive, however. If all-day breakfast returns, you can bet that we'll be first in line at the drive-thru.
