McDonald's Shamrock Shake Returns With A Green Grimace
With March right around the corner, it's almost time for the annual return of a McDonald's limited-time favorite. While the Strawberry & Crème Pie is currently warming our hearts, it's nearly green season — you already know we're talking about the Shamrock Shake. This minty, creamy treat puts us in the mood for St. Paddy's Day every year, but McDonald's is making the much-anticipated return of the Shamrock Shake more special than ever in 2025. An email shared with Foodie by McDonald's spelled out all the details, including the fact that the shakes will be available starting February 10.
There are strong symbolic ties connecting beer and St. Patrick's Day, but those who prefer a little sweetness in their festivities will be delighted to learn that McDonald's is giving you a bit of an extra incentive to purchase as many Shamrock Shakes as you can consume this winter. Between February 10th and March 23rd, the drive-thru giant will donate $0.25 per shake to the Ronald McDonald House Charities as part of the Gift to RMHC Celebration in honor of the foundation's 50th anniversary. The RMHC brings medical care and comfort to families of sick children in 62 countries and regions, through the services of over 281,000 volunteers worldwide. The giving is all tied together adorably thanks to a promotional bit of Golden Arches lore: a reunion between Grimace, the famous McDonaldland character, and his green family member, Uncle O'Grimacey.

Grimace might be purple, but his Uncle O'Grimacey is green ... appropriate, given that he hails from Sham Rock, Ireland. The only thing Uncle O'Grimacey loves more than his nephew and Shamrock Shakes is supporting the RMHC. Accordingly, McDonald's fans can buy some exclusive Uncle O'Grimacey merch starting today at Golden Arches Unlimited The goodies include t-shirts, crewnecks, and baseball caps emblazoned with this cheerful green gent. Not only will you receive some primo swag, but McDonald's will make an additional donation to the RMHC with each purchase.
McDonald's seems to be making a habit of feeding consumers' love for offbeat loot along with their bellies. Back in December, the return of the McRib came alongside the online opportunity to buy a half-gallon jug of barbecue sauce, which sold out almost immediately. Even if you don't fancy some of the O'Grimacey plunder, you can still celebrate St. Patrick's Day by reaching into your pot o' gold and making a donation to the RMHC. Alongside a frosty Shamrock Shake, we can guarantee that giving has never tasted so good.
