McDonald's Latest Burger Features A Bold New Sauce (And Bacon)
McDonald's seems to be constantly innovating new recipes to please its customer base, but it also takes strides to foster relationships with the world's best athletes. After recently debuting Pokémon Happy Meals for all the kiddos, the Golden Arches is now bringing fans a unique BBQ sauce to top its classic Quarter Pounder with Cheese (currently the only burger you can order fresh from the restaurant). The inspiration for the sauce comes from the new sandwich's namesake: WNBA star Angel Reese. The Angel Reese Special will launch on February 10 with the new BBQ sauce as the star of the burger. A blend of sweet and savory flavor (with just enough spice) encapsulates Reese's personality, which helped her rise to the top of her sport and in fans' hearts.
The Angel Reese Special will consist of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, bacon, and the bold BBQ sauce, along with McDonald's iconic fries and your choice of beverage. It is McDonald's first-ever national meal collaboration with a female athlete, celebrating Reese's accomplishments while encouraging the next generation of female athletes to pursue their dreams.
McDonald's collab with Reese goes beyond flavor
Reese herself is no stranger to the Golden Arches, saying via a press release that "McDonald's has always been a big part of my life, from grabbing a McChicken Sandwich as a kid to being named a McDonald's All American in 2020." As McD's releases its newest burger, it hopes to strengthen its bonds with the basketball community at large. As such, the Angel Reese Special is meant to be a first step. The company plans to produce more content in the future recognizing McDonald's role in basketball history while celebrating iconic basketball legends as well as rising stars.
Folks who want to get their hands on McD's latest innovation can order it through the McDonald's app, by visiting participating locations via drive-thru, or by ordering it up in-store. However, you will have to act fast. The Angel Reese Special is only going to be around for a limited time and, just like the sporadic release of the McRib, it will almost certainly be gone before you know it.
