Costco's Latest Kirkland Product Is A Crispy Fast Food Staple

At warehouse retailer Costco, a penny-pinching Valhalla for the internet-famous $1.50 food court hot dogs alone, the sight of new products tends to get fans all riled up. Remember when a premium Cognac appeared on Costco liquor store shelves right before the holidays and the Web collectively lost its mind? The combination of great deals and unique finds has led to a wholly benign cult of Costco devotion where fresh offerings from the store's high-quality private labels are considered particularly exciting.

That's why Reddit denizens got seriously hyped at the sight of never-before-seen Kirkland Signature extra-crispy french fries seen in a user-submitted picture. A point of particular enthusiasm was the price: $6.79 for five full pounds of potato-y goodness, which is more than enough to serve alongside a mountain of wings at your upcoming Super Bowl party. Even then, not only would you surely have more fries to spare, but some extra cash in your grocery budget, too. The pic was a tantalizing prospect for Costco fans, who had one question that remains unanswered ... what do the fries taste like, and are they worth the (reasonable) cost?

Are the Costco Kirkland frozen fries any good? The internet waits for an answer

To the great frustration of Redditors in the original thread, the OP elected to not shell out seven bucks and let the Internet know if the fries were tasty. Reddit is just one place on social media where devoted legions of Costco-ites have wondered why the retailer didn't sell frozen potatoes for the longest time. That means no hash browns, home fries, or, of course, french fries. Some Redditors spotted locations carrying Ore Ida brand fries, but the newer Kirkland fries are both cheaper and carry the cachet of bearing Costco's own generally well-regarded label. Sadly, there are no reviews to be found anywhere just yet; the fries must be too new. Notably, Costco used to sell highly-regarded fries in its American food courts, but they were discontinued a few years ago with no explanation.

If you do manage to snag a bag of these spuds, making perfect frozen french fries can be a tough task, but one that's more than possible and leaves you with delicious results. While air fryers are trendy as heck, we prefer a trustworthy oven and a preheated pan. Add some delicious condiments — whether you opt for ketchup, ranch, or malt vinegar is on you — and you will never want to settle for drive-through spuds again. We, personally, have our baking sheets and high hopes ready for when the Kirkland Signature french fries show up at our local Costco.
