Everything You Need To Know About Giada De Laurentiis' Boyfriend Shane Farley

If you follow the celebrity chef world, then you certainly know who Giada De Laurentiis is. The Italian-born chef has won over the hearts of many viewers thanks to her charm. And, of course, she's an amazing chef and recipe creator who shares helpful tips and tricks with her audience (like her cheese trick to make sure sauce stays on pasta). While you may know a lot about De Laurentiis and her television persona, how much do you know about her life off the screen? Particularly about who she spends most of her time with?

Her daughter, Jade, is undoubtedly one of the most important people in her life. But, the celebrity chef also spends a lot of time with her boyfriend, Shane Farley. He's been in her life for quite some time now — long before the debut of the De Laurentiis pasta line. So, just who is Farley and how has he influenced De Laurentiis' personal and professional life?

He has won four Emmy Awards as a producer for many top-rated shows

Giada De Laurentiis spends a lot of her time in front of the camera, but Shane Farley is no stranger to television. However, unlike his girlfriend, he works behind the scenes. Farley is a television producer. He's worked on several shows, many of which were also cooking related — sense a theme here? Some of these include the "Steve Harvey Show," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," "The Voice," and "Rachael Ray." While quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic, Farley also helped his girlfriend produce her show, "Giada at Home 2.0."

And, Farley isn't just any producer. He's really good at his job. Good enough that he has won four Emmys and has been nominated for several more. The Emmys he won were for "Rachael Ray" in 2008 and 2009, "The Wayne Brady Show" in 2003, and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" in 2002.

Farley's media contributions are not limited to television

While Shane Farley might be best known as a television producer — or as the boyfriend of Giada De Laurentiis — he has also contributed to other forms of media throughout his career. Farley has dedicated a lot of his efforts toward creating engaging and enhancing digital and streaming content. During his time producing Quibi's "No Filter" for TMZ, he focused a lot of his efforts on producing online content for fans of the show. Similarly, when working on "The Voice" for NBC, Farley generated digital media content to engage the audience and make the program even more meaningful for viewers.

He is also the producer of a live show in Las Vegas — "Brunched by An Angel," which features a psychic who shares messages from deceased family members with their loved ones who are in the audience. At the end of 2022, Farley stepped into a new role as the executive vice president of production and development for Los Angeles Magazine Studios. This was a newly created division of the publication, and Farley was tasked with producing content related to past pieces and new stories for the magazine.

Shane Met Giada while she was still married to her now ex-husband

Shane Farley and Giada De Laurentiis first met in 2013. At the time, De Laurentiis was still married to her now ex-husband, Todd Thompson. The pair separated the following year, and were officially divorced in 2015. The reason for the meeting was that a talk show featuring both De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay was in the works, and Farley was approached about producing it. When talking with People about his first meeting with De Laurentiis, Farley said, "I just thought she was really smart and funny and I thought, 'God, she would be a great host for a show.'" Unfortunately, it never went anywhere — and neither did Farley and De Laurentiis , at least not quite yet.

It's a bit surprising that it took until 2013 for these two to meet — there were several other opportunities their paths could have crossed, but the stars just weren't aligned. Farley was the co-executive producer for the Rachael Ray show for about five years, between 2006 and 2011. De Laurentiis appeared on the show a few times over his tenure, but still, the two never actually met.

Farley and De Laurentiis didn't start dating for more than a year after their initial meeting

While Shane Farley and Giada De Laurentiis met in 2013 to discuss the potential for a talk show starring Bobby Flay and De Laurentiis, the pair did not immediately start dating. It was only a professional meeting, plus De Laurentiis was still officially married to her husband. It took more than a year after that meeting for them to develop a relationship.

De Laurentiis separated from her husband Todd Thompson in 2014. She wasn't immediately looking for a new love. In fact, she told People, "After I divorced, I spent about a year and a half alone, not dating, just figuring things out." Neither Farley nor De Laurentiis pursued the other one after their initial meeting in 2013. The pair simply happened to cross paths once again. This time, it was in Los Angeles, where Farley had recently moved to produce "FABLife" with Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen. De Laurentiis' cooking show was filmed in the same studio, and the two would run into each other around work and grab a drink every now and then. De Laurentiis even appeared on "FABLife." They started as friends, but it didn't take long for it to turn into a real relationship.

Like De Laurentiis, Farley was also previously married

Giada De Laurentiis wasn't the only one in this new relationship who had previously been married. Shane Farley was also married to someone else — and coincidentally also got divorced in 2015. Unlike De Laurentiis and her ex Todd Thompson, Farley and his now ex-wife, Jennifer Giamo, did not have children. However, they did spend a significant amount of their life together, over the 15 years that they were married.

Giamo is a NSCA certified personal Trainer who started her own personal training company. After separating from Farley, she also penned several articles for Medium related to divorce. These articles covered topics such as how long it can take to get over a divorce, how to find closure, and using meditation and non-traditional methods to help you through the process. Perhaps she wanted to use her experiences to help others who were going through a similar time in their lives.

Shane also cooks for Giada sometimes

Giada De Laurentiis might be the professional chef in the relationship, but that doesn't mean Shane Farley never cooks. According to an interview with People TV, De Laurentiis estimates that she cooks about 80% of the time, leaving the additional 20% to Farley. While cooking is second nature to De Laurentiis, and she can pull off a gourmet meal with only a moment's notice, it doesn't come quite as easily to Farley. To avoid making a mistake when following a recipe, he needs more time to prepare and gather ingredients — which sometimes involves multiple trips to the store to make sure nothing is missing.

The first meal that Farley prepared for De Laurentiis (and her daughter, Jade) was Bolognese. He didn't even need to try Giada's trick to elevate store-bought sauce – he made his own from scratch. Turns out that the meal was delicious, so it's unlikely there were any leftovers for De Laurentiis to use in her go-to dish for repurposing spaghetti.

Farley also worked hard to prepare chicken biryani for the celebrity chef's 52nd birthday. While Farley admitted that the recipe was a bit more complex and required a lot of ingredients than he was used to, it turns out it was quite tasty. During an interview with People, De Laurentiis shared, "The man has been working on this dish for four days, and it is divine."

It's only because of Shane that someone might find a hidden cut-out of Giada in her kitchen some day

While there are certain foods that you'll never find in Giada De Laurentiis' kitchen, it turns out there may be something even more exciting to find. In 2021, De Laurentiis was in the process of renovating her kitchen, turning it into a custom masterpiece that would perfectly accommodate her every cooking need. A Discovery+ special, "My Dream Kitchen: Giada De Laurentiis," shared a sneak peak of the renovations with viewers.

When the special was being filmed, Farley, De Laurentiis, and Jade showed up to check on the progress. Shane had brought along a little surprise with him, which he revealed on camera. It was a life-size cardboard cut-out of De Laurentiis wearing a full-length black gown. He told her she should put it between the walls before new drywall was added. De Laurentiis decided to go along with this crazy idea and even dated the life-size cardboard version of herself before it was put into place. One day in the distant future, someone will discover this cut out as they renovate the kitchen once again. It would be interesting to be a fly-on-the-wall for that discovery!

Shane gets along well with Giada's daughter Jade

Giada De Laurentiis and her ex-husband, Todd Thompson, share a daughter named Jade. Jade was still in elementary school when Shane Farley and De Laurentiis started dating. As a young child, one could imagine that there was no guarantee she would get along with her mom's new boyfriend. Fortunately for all involved, Jade and Farley seem to have a great relationship.

"I do not have children and to be able to have such a well-adjusted, fun kid around has been really nice," Farley shared with People during an interview. All three spend a lot of time together — Farley was even present for Jade's middle school graduation in 2022, cheering her on alongside her mother. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Farley and Jade spent even more time together, as he quarantined at De Laurentiis' house. They even worked together to help pull off the production and filming of "Giada at Home 2.0" while in quarantine.

Shane and Giada are quite the travelers

Despite both having busy work schedules, Shane Farley and Giada De Laurentiis have been able to find ample time to travel together. Jade has also joined the pair for many of these trips, including a vacation to Hawaii. While in Maui, they went sailing, snorkeling, and even tried motorized hang gliding. De Laurentiis also brought Farley and Jade on a trip to Italy, her home country. Here, they enjoyed boating in Puglia, shopping their way through Florence, visiting the countryside, and of course, eating delicious Italian food.

De Laurentiis and Farley have also taken some couples-only trips, visiting Miami and New York City. In Miami, they attended the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, where De Laurentiis hosted a few cooking demonstrations. While in New York City, De Laurentiis and Farley explored the city, though she was also trying to stay caught up with her daughter who was away at camp during the trip.
