Gordon Ramsay's Favorite Fast Food Burger Is A California Classic

If anyone knows burgers, it's chef Gordon Ramsay. His name is on over 50 restaurants globally–some with numerous Michelin stars–including five Gordon Ramsay Burger locations. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Gordon Ramsay's favorite fast food burger comes from a restaurant considered a California classic: In-N-Out Burger.

In a video on Mythical Kitchen's YouTube, Ramsay puts the chain's burgers on the list of foods he would request for his last meal. Ramsay claims he likes that In-N-Out's burgers are locally-sourced and that he shows his appreciation to drive-thru employee by giving them a $100 tip when he picks up his meal.

But what kind of burger, precisely? Ramsay always orders the Double-Double, Animal Style. This sandwich consists of two burgers, two slices of American cheese — hence the double-double — lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and In-N-Out's spread. To make it Animal Style, the burgers are cooked with a coating of mustard, then topped with extra spread and grilled onions. Unlike McDonald's, which currently only has one freshly made burger on the menu, each burger at In-N-Out is made fresh to order, another possible reason they're a favorite of Ramsay

Other celebrities love In-N-Out

In the YouTube video, Ramsay admits that he modeled the cooking technique used in his burger restaurants on one used at In-N-Out. However, instead of brushing the burgers with mustard, Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurants use rich Devonshire butter to add flavor.

In-N-Out Burger isn't just Gordon Ramsay's favorite fast food burger joint, as other celebrities love the chain as well. The late Anthony Bourdain enjoyed his In-N-Out burgers Animal Style, too, and celebrity chef Ina Garten always stops by In-N-Out for a bite whenever she's on the West Coast. Even Julia Child is said to have kept a list of nearby In-N-Out locations in her purse.

Esther and Harry Snyder opened the first In-N-Out Burger in 1948. Today, the chain has grown to over 400 locations in eight states and is run by the founder's granddaughter, Lynsi Snyder. We think Gordon Ramsay would say that they must be doing something right.
