The Costco Food Court Hack That Customers Are Comparing To Pigs In A Blanket
Move aside pizza-wrapped hot dogs; there's a new sheriff in town. Costco shoppers are no stranger to food court hacks, although most fans of the warehouse club favor its low prices and variety more so than its quasi-secret menu items. The latest in Costco food trends: the store's classic all beef hot dog served in one of the big boxed store's fresh croissants. Those croissants are baked daily and are currently sold in a 12-pack at just 50 cents per croissant (depending on your individual store).
Before you get very excited, understand that this is a DIY creation of shoppers, not something that Costco is selling in a single unit. A user on Reddit generously shared their creative hack for this treat, writing, "First time trying the croissant, had to do it Costco style!" while attaching a photo of the hot dog in a split croissant.
When asked what they thought of their buttery-bunned hot dog, the user replied, "As another commenter said, it tasted like a pig in a blanket but more flakey and buttery! Definitely recommend!" While there are a number of discontinued Costco food court items that we'd like to see make a return (looking at you, Combo Pizza), this take on pigs in a blanket featuring a full-sized Costco hot dog earns a pretty high spot on our Costco snack court wish list.
More Costco food court hacks
Despite rumors circulating earlier this year, Costco isn't ready to deliver its famous food court hot dogs anytime soon. However, Costco members can still make their way to a warehouse to try the pigs in a blanket hack themselves. Simply pick up a 12-pack of Costco croissants, a hot dog at the food court, and get to assembling. Add condiments last to make the process less messy. Not a bad lunch ... plus you have 11 more croissants to use for at-home meals and future food court creations.
While there are plenty of great Costco products worth buying as-is, consider other ways to hack the food court menu and create bold flavor combinations that only require a little extra effort. Take the Cold Brew Mocha Freeze and vanilla soft serve. Combine the two for a rich, refreshing way to get past that afternoon slump. For a nostalgic beverage reminiscent of a U.S. diner, pour a root beer from the Costco soda stream into a vanilla soft serve for a quick root beer float.
Keep the soft serve coming (this time with vanilla, chocolate, or swirl) by tearing up a churro and mixing it with the ice cream for a simple churro sundae. And if you can't get enough of Costco hot dogs, replace the bun again, this time with a cheesy chicken bake for a protein-packed bun that is bursting with flavor. This particular combination quickly grew in popularity in early 2023, but perhaps Costco croissants will replace it as Costco shoppers' new favorite hot dog bun.
