Yelp's Top Chinese Restaurant Of The Year Is A Small Spot In Queens

Chinese food fans can now mark a new destination on their bucket list. Yelp has just released its collection of the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants of 2024, and Maxi's Noodle in Flushing, Queens, has been crowned as the best overall in the country. Disfrutar may be the best restaurant in the world according to the World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, but Maxi's Noodle takes the cake for best Chinese food in the U.S., according to Yelp.

As part of this year's efforts, Yelp sought out Chinese restaurants that were not part of a national chain from New York to Los Angeles. Yelp then ranked them based on factors such as the volume and quality of ratings the restaurants received. Maxi's Noodle's particularly large wontons are responsible for much of the praise customers have heaped on the establishment since it first opened in September 2019. The custom-made wontons are packed with three types of shrimp, a bit of pork, and absolutely no filler. Their thin, smooth texture is one of a kind, too. Still, there is more to eat at Maxi's Noodle than wontons. Yelpers aren't shy when it comes to raving about some of the other dishes the restaurant serves, from curry fish balls to a wide variety of comforting noodles.

Yelper Edward W. posted, "The daced fish balls were very spongy and the soup was very flavorful. The fried fish skin was very crispy as well. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Flushing!" Another reviewer, Joanna M., complimented the restaurant by writing, "This is as authentic as it gets. Friendly Asian aunties hooking you up with affordable, delicious beef stew and wonton noodle soup [...] You can tell everything is made fresh. Also, the wontons are the biggest I've had [...] The beef stew is very flavorful as well. And with a dab of Maxi's chili oil? What a treat."

There are plenty of establishments foodies should have on their bucket list, like the oldest restaurants in the world and themed restaurants that never fail to impress. And now for U.S.-based Chinese food, it seems the masses have spoken: Maxi's Noodle is a must-visit location.
