McDonald's Is Bringing Back Its Most Requested Menu Item In 2025
The wait is (almost) over — McDonald's Snack Wraps are on their way back! Could this time be for good? Initially the McDonald's team did not explicitly announce this, only offering a cryptic post on its X profile. There, McDonald's cheekily posted just a three word message in lowercase letters: "snack wraps xx.xx.2025."
Within an hour of the intriguing message, the post surpassed 1,000 comments, with many asking McDonald's not to bluff. One commenter told the American burger chain, "Don't play with my feelings this better be true". To which McDonald's responded: "i can vouch".
If that's not convincing enough, shortly after this, McDonald's U.S. branch president Joe Erlinger made the announcement official in an interview with Good Morning America, telling viewers definitively that "the Snack Wrap will be back in 2025." How's that for something to look forward to in the New Year? McDonald's has been known to tease its fans before, just last month releasing a holiday song to welcome back the McRib to its menu.
Why did McDonald's Snack Wraps disappear in the first place?
If Snack Wraps are so popular, why did McDonald's discontinue them? Surprising as it may be, the Snack Wrap was not always a fan favorite, at least according to McDonald's. After its 2006 launch in the U.S., the Snack Wrap stayed available nationwide for a decade. That is, until 2016, when it was removed from the standard menu for its low sales compared to the time it took to prepare (the tortillas particularly took a while to heat up). Despite this, the Snack Wrap stayed available in some franchises until 2020, when it was fully discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite underwhelming sales in the 2010s, consumers have spent the last few years asking for the return of Snack Wraps, with some fans even making pilgrimages to Canada, where the Snack Wrap is still available. In late 2023, McDonald's executives shared that they planned to bring back the Snack Wrap in 2025. It certainly does appear that this timeline tracks with the current news.
Most fans of the iconic burger chain seem ready to believe Mickey D's, so long as the chain stays true to its word. The Snack Wrap should be available relatively soon — within the next year, anyway. And if Snack Wraps aren't your thing, take a note from celebrities who are also big fans of the food offered at the Golden Arches.
