What 12 Celebrities Really Order From McDonald's

In "73 Questions with Taylor Swift" for Vogue, she said her go-to drive-thru order was a cheeseburger, fries and chocolate shake. However, Swift carefully didn't say which fast-food franchise would be serving up the classic combo. While the "Tortured Poets" singer-songwriter might be shy about putting her name to any particular brand, other celebrities are more than happy to display their loyalty — especially to McDonald's.

Founded in 1940, it has become more than just a place to grab a freshly-cooked Quarter Pounder with cheese. It's an iconic institution with an instantly recognizable menu, whether you're ordering in Paris, Texas or Paris, France. By the end of 2023, 41,000 McDonald's restaurants were operating across 100 countries– so is it really no surprise that some of the world's biggest stars can't get enough of it?

I have trawled the internet for articles and interviews, and scoured social media posts to put together a list of famous faces, including singers, actors, one Olympic champion, who are bona fide, regular visitors to the Gold Arches. Let's dive in and find out what these 12 celebrities really order from McDonald's.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez may be a global icon but the singer, actress and businesswoman is also a staunch lover of fast food and has been for years. In her youth, Gomez was no stranger to the McDonald's menu: Whether she was happily tucking into a warm and oozy egg McMuffin for breakfast or hungrily chowing down on a Happy Meal with a pal.

While the "Only Murders in the Building" star likely still has an appetite for some of Mickey D's classic menu items, arguably Gomez's most famous trip to the drive-thru came when she was featured in Carpool Karaoke for "The Late Late Show with James Corden". When he placed their order, she had no hesitation in asking for a number 7 – a Ranch BLT with either grilled or crispy chicken. In the video, Gomez dips the occasional french fry into what looks like a container of barbecue sauce. And the singer was visibly thrilled to sip her Coke from a paper cup that had her own song lyrics printed on the side.

Chrissy Teigen

There are McDonald's fans, there are McDonald's stans — and then there is TV star Chrissy Teigen. Her love of McDonald's is almost as famous as she is: Who can forget her great first pitch at Dodger Stadium in 2014, wearing a shirt with '40 Nugz' — a reference to her favorite drunk food chicken McNuggets — on the back? Four years later Teigen's passion paid off and she became the face of the fast food chain's Dollar Menu advertising campaign.

It's not as if her adoration starts and ends with one product offered by the fast food giant. She's got love for so many! Teigen told Ellie Conley of Spoon University that the sausage McMuffin with egg was among her go-to menu choices, while the hot mustard dipping sauce was also a big hit.

Using your microwave isn't the best way to reheat a steak but let's not tell Teigen. She bulk buys McDonald's cheeseburgers, pops them in the fridge then reheats them for around half a minute, keeping the paper on. She described the burgers as "a warm soft pillow, they're so, so delicious," before telling Conley about a McDonald's foodie habit many of us share: "French fries are a staple for me and Luna, and I mean, a McFlurry. There's really nothing like having fries dipped into ice cream."

Kim Kardashian

As one of the world's most famous women, everything Kim Kardashian does and says causes an instant buzz, particularly on social media. Given her profile, it's completely reasonable for a brand as massive as McDonald's to ask what she would order at the drive-thru for the 2020 SuperBowl advertising campaign. Her answer pretty much broke the web y'all.

Kardashian's order included a cheeseburger and six chicken McNuggets — guessing a girl can't have too much protein. Alongside a small portion of fries were a vanilla shake and an apple pie. Then fans suddenly noticed a small pot of honey on the tray, sitting between the nuggets and the pie. What on earth could that be for? The reality star had previously shared fast food snaps on social media that included creamy ranch, tangy barbecue sauces and ketchup — but honey? That's for sweet treats or spicing up grilled cheese. When her fans begged her to confirm she didn't dip her chicken nuggets into the sweet stuff, Kardashian replied: "WHATTTT? Chicken nuggets dipped in honey is the ONLY way to eat them!" She adopted a plant-based diet around 2019 and later became Beyond Meat's chief taste consultant, using an advert for the firm to cock a snook at the McNuggets 'n' honey fuss.

Adele

She went from being an ordinary Tottenham girl to a global megastar thanks to her extraordinary voice. But when it comes to fast food, only McDonald's will do for the one and only Adele. "My ideal meal, my Death Row meal, my last meal would be a McChicken Nugget, with a Big Mac and then fries ... I have it at least once a week" she told British Vogue.

Her fans aren't the only ones who know just how deep the love for Mickey D's runs with the flame-haired singer-songwriter. Back in 2022, Adele's fiancé, NBA sports agent Rich Paul, celebrated their first year as a couple by hiring out her favorite Los Angeles McDonald's restaurant for a private, romantic Valentine's Day meal.

The Yoon family (which owns this McDonald's) told their Instagram followers that Rich's gift to Adele was wrapped in a special Happy Meal box — while the menu screens were all named after her albums, and her songs were listed instead of crispy french fries and ice-cold Coca Cola. As for whether Adele ate her preferred McDonald's trio that day? The restaurant staff said: "Only we know what their secret Valentine's meal was and we will never tell."

Donald Trump

President Trump made global headlines when he donned an apron and manned the fries section at a McDonald's drive-thru during his successful election campaign. While he didn't get the chance to grill any burgers, it was a reminder of the former real estate mogul and renowned germophobe's love for the Golden Arches.

During the 2016 campaign, a former aide said Trump liked to have egg McMuffins in the morning or a couple of Quarter Pounders with large fries in the afternoon, Politico reported. After Trump became ill with Covid-19 in 2020, his son-in-law Jared Kushner wrote in his memoir "Breaking History" that the President felt better after asking for his favorite McDonald's meal: Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, vanilla shake, and fries. Similarly, the 2017 book "Let Trump Be Trump" by Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, said his go-to order was "two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish and a chocolate malted [shake]."

While everything the President orders tastes good, it appears his menu choices are more driven by fear than flavor. He told CNN's Anderson Cooper: "One bad hamburger, you can destroy McDonald's ... I like cleanliness, and I think you're better off going there than maybe some place that you have no idea where the food is coming from."

Usain Bolt

You could be forgiven for asking why Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, the eight-time winner of Olympic gold, is among a list of what foods celebrities really order from McDonald's. The answer is (once again) the brand's chicken nuggets. Bolt may have been idolized as the world's fastest man, but when it comes to the moreish golden snack, he's as mortal as the rest of us.

He explained in his autobiography "Faster Than Lightning" that he got the taste for McNuggets while training for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. "At first I ate a box of 20 for lunch, then another for dinner. The next day I had two boxes for breakfast, one for lunch and then another couple in the evening. I even grabbed some fries and an apple pie to go with it," he wrote in his book, noted The Independent. If you do the math, that adds up to around 1,000 nuggets over 10 days of competition.

Bolt told David Letterman he stuck to the McDonald's staple because he didn't know Chinese food very well — and presumably didn't have the time to rustle up home-made versions. While most nutritionists would raise their eyebrows at the elite athlete's fast food regimen, the Mickey D's diet served the track star well: Bolt made history by winning golds in record times in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m races.

Paris Hilton

Multi-hyphenate Paris Hilton has been in the public eye for so long that even the most ordinary thing she does becomes a media event, including heading to her favorite fast food outlet: McDonald's. Cameras followed Hilton and brother Barron as they headed out to the drive-thru in a 2022 edition of her reality show "Paris in Love," but her healthy order caused a sensation as only Hilton can.

As she drove up to the outlet, the siblings reminisced about going to Mickey D's as youngsters. Hilton admitted she was on a diet of soups and veggies including olives with her fiancé Carter Reum, but was hungry for McDonald's. "I'm trying to be healthy", she quipped, before ordering a hamburger, an Oreo McFlurry, a medium number 4a – which is the Crispy Chicken sandwich meal — and a Sprite. "I feel like kids again, going to McDoodles," she smiled.

The previous year, her self-proclaimed obsession with McDonald's fries even prompted her to try making them from scratch in her show "Cooking with Paris". Turning her dining room into a Fifties-style diner looked easier for her than turning raw potatoes into fries — so McDonald's doesn't have to worry too much about competition, wink-wink!

Kanye West

You don't have to be a fan of the controversial rap star to know that Kanye West has a long-standing love of McDonald's. In the past, he declared that the fast food chain was both his favorite restaurant and brand, even going so far as to write the poem "The McDonald's Man," for Frank Ocean's 2016 zine "Boys Don't Cry."

West's devotion to the Golden Arches reached a peak in 2022 — during that year, he name-checked the brand's fries in his own song "Gold Digger," while in a now-deleted Instagram post, the rapper wrote: "Ye teams up with industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald's packaging," as noted by Designboom.com, and also appeared in the brand's SuperBowl commercial asking: "Hey, can I get uhhhh ...?"

As for West's McDonald's drive-thru order? Well, he clearly had an appetite for chicken wings during a 2021 trip to Sweden. He requested a three-pack of the spicy snack, alongside a Chicken Tasty sandwich, medium fries, six barbecue dipping sauces and a large chocolate shake. No space for the apple pie though which, as the rapper's aforementioned poem suggests, is the only McDonald's item that is better than those legendary fries.

Jennifer Lawrence

Kentucky-born star Jennifer Lawrence went viral in 2013 after she tripped on the stairs on her way to accepting her first Oscar, but that glittering night was a memorable one for foodie reasons too. During a red carpet interview with "The Hollywood Reporter" Lawrence admitted she had forgotten to eat before leaving home for the four-hour ceremony.

In a smart move, she asked one of her team to run over to the McDonald's across the street from the event and pick her up a Happy Meal, insisting she would eat it in the bathroom. Unfortunately for the actress, she forgot a couple of important things, and told an MTV reporter: "Wait, hold on, I didn't say fries! I'm seeing you talk and all I'm seeing is me being pissed I didn't get fries. And you have to remind them about ketchup because they never include ketchup, you have to ask for it," as reported by Huffpost.

Not everyone shares Lawrence's enthusiasm for the Golden Arches. While promoting her 2013 movie "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," she turned to co-star Josh Hutcherson mid-interview and told him how she took Woody Harrelson to a McDonald's drive-thru. While she was hungry for something from the global franchise's menu, Harrelson, who is vegan and so maintains a veggie-heavy, plant-based diet, was unimpressed. "He had a full meltdown," she laughed.

Millie Bobby Brown

Striking the entertainment world like a lightning bolt, Millie Bobby Brown became an overnight star thanks to the Netflix series "Stranger Things." Much like her character Eleven — who wolfed down plenty of Benny's burgers back in season one — Brown also loves fast food. During an appearance on the Table Manners podcast, where food (including McDonald's) was on the menu, Brown nibbled at what looked like chicken nuggets dipped in a sauce. It wasn't her first flirtation with the Golden Arches. She also made internet waves promoting the third season of "Stranger Things" in 2019 by posing with a McDonald's cup, though the drink inside remained a mystery. That was, until the very next year.

That's because Brown's order also featured in the celebrity line-up for the McDonald's 2020 SuperBowl campaign ad. No cheeseburger and fries, though: Instead, there was a healthy bowl of salad (which looked for all the world like it was screaming for a slug of green goddess dressing), alongside six chicken McNuggets, and what appeared to be a Sprite with plenty of ice.

Pharrell Williams

If you ever happen to pull up at the drive thru behind singer-songwriter Pharrell Williams, there's a strong chance his order will include plenty of McDonald's chicken McNuggets. The "Happy" star has a long connection with the tasty snack, because working at the fast food giant was his first (and only) job, he told BBC Sounds host Jo Whiley. Sadly, he wasn't the best employee: Because he was fired three times.

It turns out that, ahead of strike three, Williams had developed a taste for the chicken nuggets. "I found the sweet and sour sauce and the chicken nugget an alchemical combination ... I just like flavors, I'd have sweet and sour on one and on the other I would have ranch, and I'd just go back and forth." An application to work at a fourth outlet failed too, but the artist's fondness for Mickey D's didn't fade.

Cameras caught him singing and dancing while asking for a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, french fries, a Coke, milkshake, and sundae at a Paris McDonald's in 2009, trying to persuade unimpressed staff to open their restaurant early so he could eat before getting a flight. Maybe he would have had more luck if Williams had tried McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It" jingle, which he is credited with having co-created back in 2003.

Britney Spears

No mention of celebrity McDonald's orders would be complete without shining a light on the Princess of Pop herself, Britney Spears. She co-starred with *NSYNC in a 2000 commercial for the brand and, as a global superstar, is a high-profile target for the paparazzi when out and about. In 2007, she was followed everywhere by them — including when she visited the drive thru.

In one late-night run to Mickey D's — let's face it, we've all been there — there was chaos as she ordered two Happy Meals. In a separate visit, a dark-haired Britney didn't shy away from the cameras and loudly asked for a number three with a Coke. At the time, Spears' fans speculated that the burger included in her order was a Quarter Pounder with cheese. It is possible but her taste may have changed since then — because talking to Entertainment Online in 2018, Spears said that when she was preparing for a tour, she would stick to clean foods such as chicken and vegetables. Although from time to time the star yearned to get her teeth into a juicy hamburger, but she said: "My stomach is so sensitive, if I have a steak, I will be sick for three days. The burger is fine but I have the small burgers from McDonald's, the Happy Meal!"
