Why Your Favorite McDonald's Espresso Drinks Might Be Missing From Some Menus
McDonald's has had a rough go of it lately. Most folks have heard about McDonald's recent E. Coli outbreak and the resulting decline in sales the establishment has endured. Although federal health officials have indicated McDonald's quarter pounder and its slivered onions are not currently considered a safety concern, a new problem has arisen inside the Golden Arches. Now, it seems beverages are the headache of the hour, and customers craving an espresso drink may have to go without for the time being.
Melitta, the company that supplies McDonald's with its espresso machines in the United States, informed proprietors that some devices may contain an issue affecting operation. Faulty components in the machines could result in steam forcefully blowing out of the apparatus and breaking the espresso maker. After discovering two machines with the flaw, Melitta cautioned restaurants to stop operating the espresso devices for three weeks while the company looks into the problem and inspects potentially faulty components.
Which McDonald's drinks will be affected?
It is uncertain whether all McDonald's locations will be affected by the mechanism's issue, as the restaurant has indicated it is still determining the extent of the issue. Multiple Chicago locations reported that espresso-based beverages were unavailable to order. McDonald's locations in Louisville, Kentucky, have also been impacted. Locations with faulty machines cautioned customers that hot and cold lattes might not be available for now.
The news couldn't have come at a worse time for the iconic burger joint. There have been rumors that McDonald's might be planning to bring back all-day breakfast in an effort to get customers back in its doors after the recent E. coli breakout. Whether that rumor is true or not, it will undoubtedly be thwarted by the news that the restaurant's expanded coffee menu won't be available until the source of the issue in its espresso machines can be identified.
