Costco To Deliver Its Famous Food Court Hot Dogs? We're Not Convinced
Having survived inflation and leadership changes, Costco's $1.50 hot dog and soda combo is one of the most beloved and recognizable aspects of a trip to this membership warehouse club. But do you really have to go there in person every time you want a hot dog? While scrolling through TikTok or another social media platform you may have stumbled across a video posted by TikToker nunchakusdragon asserting that Costco has just announced a free delivery option for its beloved $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Does this sound too good to be true? Yeah, we think so, too.
@nunchakusdragon Costco announces free delivery of $1.50 hotdog / soda 🌭🥤 #costco #food #breakingnews #trending #foryoupage #foryou #fyp #hotdog #soda #pop
Nunchakusdragon claims that this is a partnership between Costco and DoorDash when the treat is ordered through the Costco app. At the time of writing this article, however, neither Costco nor DoorDash have officially announced any such collaboration. Since nunchakusdragon — whom other users claim has been known to put out tall tales – remains the only source of this claim, free delivery of the Costco $1.50 hot dog and soda combo remains firmly in the realm of rumor.
TikTok comments highlight its falsity
The announcement of sorts generated plenty of upset in the comments. While some TikTok users speculated on different types of fees that would be added on to the meal, others lamented the likely fake announcement. One TikTok user, @helpcantsleep, even commented on the original post that "You genuinely broke my heart with this one :/," to which nunchakusdragon replied with a heart emoji.
While some viewers may have been left wondering how Costco's hot dogs are still only $1.50 anyway, others choose to dive deeper into the authenticity of this claim. As some intrepid users asked for the source of this announcement or where they can access this deal, others seemingly joined in on Nunchakusdragon's joke.
Some commenters speculated that such a partnership could actually be a good idea that would increase the wild amount of hot dogs that Costco sells every year. "It is probably a ploy to increase membership.. if this is correct it might actually work... cause now I want a membership if I need it to get," commented TikToker @joshua110993. But until we get official word from either Costco or DoorDash, color us highly skeptical.
